Description
English: IWM caption: The navy fights tuberculosis. 1940, Royal Navy barracks, Chatham. New entries at the RN barracks line up for their turn to be x-rayed in the pulmograph. Every man entering the navy goes through this examination. Each man takes with him a card with his weight, height, and age marked on it. This card is numbered and photographed in the pulmograph at the same time as the x-ray is made so that there is no chance of any mistakes being made.
